Power compliance that pays for itself.

Powering Peak Performance

Apex Power Analytics pairs registered electrical certification with power-quality engineering and CFO-ready financial analysis — so every correction is proven in Rands, not just kilowatts.

Why it matters now

South Africa's grid is over-priced and under-performing.

That single fact is costing businesses twice — through climbing tariffs and through power quality that quietly inflates every bill. Both are fixable.

Tariffs rising ~9% / year

Eskom +8.76% (Apr 2026) and municipal +9.01% (Jul 2026) — electricity inflation dwarfs CPI. The cost of doing nothing compounds every year.

Power-factor penalties up to +25%

A power factor below ~0.96 is penalised with reactive-energy charges and inflated kVA demand — often a five-figure annual leak you can't see on a normal bill.

Harmonics overheat your plant

Drives, UPS and electronic loads distort the waveform — overloading neutrals, derating transformers and tripping breakers. Invisible until it fails.

The Apex difference

Most electricians sell a certificate. We sell certainty and savings.

Three groups touch your energy problem and none closes the loop. Installers sell equipment. Energy consultants stop at "kWh saved". Accountants understand money but not the engineering. Apex does all three — in one accountable partner.

  • Compliance + savings — every CoC includes a free power-health snapshot.
  • Genuine engineering credibility — harmonics, PFC and voltage-quality work a domestic electrician can't take on.
  • Finance fluency — work presented as a capital-investment case with a payback period.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) cost in Gauteng?

A standard residential CoC (single-phase, ≤60A) is R1,150, including a free power-health snapshot. Larger homes are R1,450 and three-phase/commercial sites start at R2,800. Prices are fixed and published — no surprises.

What is power-factor correction, and how much can it save me?

Power-factor correction reduces the wasted "reactive" power that inflates your kVA demand charges and triggers municipal penalties. For many commercial sites it cuts billed demand 15–20% and pays for itself in under 18 months. Try our savings calculator for an estimate on your numbers.

Do you sign off solar / SSEG installations?

Yes. Since 1 October 2025 a DoEL-registered person can legally sign off residential small-scale embedded generation (SSEG) — no ECSA engineer required. We provide the CoC, NRS 097-2-1 inverter certificate and SSEG test report for R2,950 (volume rates for installers).

What is harmonic filtering and do I need it?

Non-linear loads (variable-speed drives, UPS, LED drivers, IT equipment) distort your current waveform, overheating neutrals and transformers and tripping breakers. Harmonic filtering brings you back inside IEEE 519 limits. We confirm whether you need it with a logged power-quality survey.

Which areas do you service?

We cover Johannesburg and Pretoria across Gauteng. Travel within 30 km of base is included; beyond that it's R6/km.

What makes Apex different from a regular electrician?

We pair DoEL-registered certification with genuine power-quality engineering and finance training, so we don't just certify and fix — we quantify the saving in Rands with a board-ready Power-to-Profit™ report (NPV, IRR, payback). One accountable partner from measurement to boardroom.
